You can contact me any time of the year. I may have a spot for you as sometimes the schedule shifts mid-year. Registration begins in April for the following September.
All lessons are in person. Rarely, we may have to have an online lesson (in case of illness). However, my preference is to re-schedule.
Tuition depends on the length of the lesson. Your annual tuition includes a set number of lessons, masterclasses and recitals. Contact me to set up a meeting so we can discuss details.
I welcome beginners! Children can start at age 5 or 6. I have begun teaching the exciting Piano Safari method, which is suitable for young children, and also for older beginners.
There are no lessons on weekends. The studio hours are Monday-Thursday, 3:00-8:30 PM.
The ideal lesson time for beginners is 45 minutes, but for younger children (~6 years old), we may start with 30-minute lessons. By the time children are in their second year, lessons are generally lengthened to 45 minutes. When a student reaches grade 4 or 5 in piano, lessons are lengthened to one hour.
If you are unwell and have any symptoms of Covid, stay home. We will re-schedule the lesson for a mutually convenient time.
Lessons missed due to vacation will not be made up. The missed time still counts as one of the set number of lessons paid for.
An acoustic piano is much better, but a keyboard is okay for the first year. I ask for a commitment from the student or parents that they will at least be looking for an acoustic piano in the near future.
Without an acoustic piano, students will not develop the muscle control and the subtle differences in sound needed to succeed. If they only have a keyboard at home, lessons become frustrating and ultimately self-defeating. It’s like the difference between learning how to type on a computer, then having to do all your work (performance) on a manual typewriter!
